Can't Capture

I'm trying to capture video off the sony DCR-TRV 950. When I try to capture it says "frames dropped" and stops the capture. I'm using a G4 and Final Cut 5. Help!

it may be you Capture Scratch disc is too slow and/or too full ... are you capturing to the startp disc or a dedicated media drive? (conventional wisdom strongly dictates that you don't try capturing to the startup disc). how much free space do you have on the specified capture disc? (disc performance drops off quickly at the drive becomes very full .... try not to fill your drive past 80% full) and what Easy Setup are you using?
