AVCHD from Sony HDR-SR1 Camera

Anyone aware of anything new having been released for getting the AVCHD (MTS and/or M2TS) footage off a Sony HDR-SR1 Camera in a form that can be edited in FCP?

All the codecs/software I find are still WindowsXP based. Anything new out there that will run on my iMac?

nasty but apparently it works

or here's a methd for PC users
[www.jakeludington.com]

alternatively try switching NLE, Canopus offer a free AVCHD converter
[www.canopus.com]
(you'll need to register a free account on the site to get to this area)
converts to a canopus avi format (playback codecs available)

... or get a Mac that can handle a Blackmagic Intensity card and capture direct from the HDMI out

Oy! avsforum.com is way over my head....!!!

Thanks for your imput, anyway. I'll just keep waiiting. Sooner or later someone will come out with a simple package. It would be terrific if MPEG StreamClip did it. Again, thanks for your response.
