Mirroring fcp from powerbook to 23 cinema displayPosted by pistol pete
I just purchased 23" apple monitor and have a G4 powerbook for fcp. I wanted to mirror fcp to the 23". Got the laptop and monitor to mirror but when I playback video from the timeline there is significant stuttering of the video and audio and I get an immediate "frames dropped during playback" error message. When I switch the laptop using the f7 key to switch from mirror to two seperate displays, then there is no stuttering of the video and audio when I play back in fcp and everything is okay. Why does my computer stutter in mirror mode but doesn't stutter when not in mirror mode? Is there any setting I can change or the resolution to fix the problem? pistol pete --- Powerbook G4 (1.2) 1.67ghz 1Gb DDR SDRAM ATI RV360 64mb video RAM LaCie 250Gb firewire drive Apple 23" Cinema HD display Final Cut Pro 4.5 ---
Hi.
Pete i would recommend the separate monitors configuration. Besides giving you more working space, it will help FCP reduce its Playback load. Drop Frames Warnings usually happens when the Viewer or the Canvas display the footage without the correct Zoom level. To solve this simply press SHIFT+Z (Fit in Window) in either the Viewer or the Canvas. Thanks guys. Yeah I can use as dual monitors, and drag timeline and browser so I dont have to strain to read browser on powerbook. Apple cat told me on the line that powerbook video card not powerfull enough to mirror both powerbook and 23 at same time. Anyway, I would like just to have the whole kitchen sink on the 23 but what do you hit for configuration to have windows etc automatically set up on both windows? AND NO KEVIN I SURE AINT A TEACHER... JUST A SPONGE..
