Pleasantville Effect

Is it possible to acheive the pleasantville effect with two colors showing amongst a black and white video? I am using Final Cut Pro and need some help. I want red and blue to show because I am using a French flag, and I want everything else to be black and white.

If anyone knows, please explain...

Thanks,

JohnBen

I know how to do the pleasantville effect, but I want to show two colors. When I use the method in the link, it saturates out all colors except blue or whatever, so the red is no longer there.

I need to find a way to limit two sets of colors, such as reds AND blues.

Holding down SHIFT while using the eyedropper allows sampling of multiple colour ranges.

Add 2 copies of the CC 3 way. Turn off one filter when you are tweaking the other. The technique is in my book and in the "Edit Well" magazine.

Why is it called Pleasant ville when all the effect does is de-saturate foreground objects? Making them more Adam's Family Ville more than Pleasant ville..

It's from the movie 'Pleasantville' where everyone was in black and white, but gradually some people 'awakened' and aquired colour. Cute flick.

Schindler's List used that effect as well, five years before Pleasantville.

It's named after the Pleasantville flick because they used the effect thoughout a large portion of the film - the effect was literally a character in the piece. Schindler's List used it in only a very few scenes to punch a few symbolic images.
