Up-Rezzing/converting from PD150/170 to HDPosted by Dave Stenz
I recently listened to a DP Buzz episode with Michael Horton and Philip Hodgetts
(dated 7/20/06, midway through the podcast). A listener wrote in and asked how to up-scale/up-rez 16:9 PD150 footage to HD. Michael spoke about placing the footage in a sequence set for that type of conversion. I understand that PD150/170 footage is not HD (nor true 16:9) but is playable in 16:9 with good results. When time allows, would you expand on that with suggested up-scaling and timeline settings in FCP5.1, Compressor 2 and DVDSP4? I sincerely appreciate ANY guidance, information or link direction you can provide. System: G5 Dual 2.0 (Ram 8G) / OS 10.4.9 / QuickTime 7.1.5 / FCP 5.1 (Universal) / Compressor 2 / DVDSP 4 Sincerely, Dave
I've done this with Compressor. We talked about this when I was on. I had to uprez some DV footage to put in my DVCPRO HD timeline. I didn't have luck with Instant HD (must have had settings wrong or something, because I hear I does good) so I used Compressor. Took a long time, but I got GREAT results.
I made Compressor Droplets available for download. Sign up at www.proapptips.com and then go to the MY DOWNLOADS section. Look for COMPRESSOR DROPLETS...they are there. www.shanerosseditor.com Listen to THE EDIT BAY Podcast on iTunes [itunes.apple.com]
Should. I haven't tried, but no reason why they shouldn't.
