Dropped Frames During Capture

Greetings,
I recently have run into a new problem that I have not encountered before, and that is dropped frames during capture. I am using FCP HD 4.5, running OS 10.4.9, 1.8GHZ G-5, 768MB Memory, 250GB Hard Drive (227) with 142 GB Availiable. Quicktime 7.1.5

I am attempting to cature with both a Canon GL-2, and a JVC Pro Deck, same results. The tape plays fine, but the onscreen log and capture shows the image "freezing" then the error message "Dropped Frames".

I have not made any new software updates except an iTunes. This has not happened to me in the past.

I defraged the drive, ran tech tool pro version 4 and all drives/files pass. I swapped out the firewire cord.

I then tried to capture in iMovie, with same camera, deck, cord, and had no problem. Although, when I imported the clips into FCP, I had to render the audio, and halfway through that render I got an "Out of Memory" error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Michael

Tom,
Thank you very much for pointing that out for me. I will do so and see if I have any better luck. Take care - Michael
