I was told there was a FCP 4.5 HD free upgrade to FCP 5.0.1. Is this true, and, if so, from what website can I download it? Apple's website does not seem to be able to find it. Thanks, all.

You were incorrectly informed. The upgrade, when it was available, wasn't free. It isn't available anymore. Only FCP 6, via Final Cut Pro Studio 2.

Best bet would be eBay.
