Audio sync (seperate source)

I shot a play with two cameras and on this shoot I tried out a Zoom H4 recorder. Took a feed from the board right into it and the audio sounds great - far better than my camera feed.

Problem is that it doesn't track correctly. I might get it in sync but then 10 minutes downline it's way off. It was recorded as a 48khz wav file.

Is there any trick I'm missing or is there just that much difference in the way my DV camera's record audio?

How "way?" Frames? Seconds? Minutes?

How many?

Sometimes magic numbers crop up.

"Oh. If it's exactly two frames per minute off, that means your freebus-romulus was set wrong."

Something like that.

I hope you're aware that FCP currently treats sound files as NDF non NTSC, this may cause some sync problems.

Cool. Is this like all 23.976 sequences use NDF Time Code? Nasty surprise. Good to know.

Yes ;-)
Finally DF can only happen with 29.97 or 30 all other framerates use NDF, while NTSC timing can happen to 23.976, 24, 29.97, 30, 59.94, 60.
