I have a client that wants us to supply encoded footage to them...
we would capture the footage in Final Cut and we can encode in Compressor...
here are their specs
b) Video shall be encoded in MPEG-2 Transport Stream 188-byte packet format.
c) Audio shall be encoded in whichever is the first of these formats that Licensor can provide: (i) Dolby Digital AC-3 3/2; or (ii) Dolby AC-3 2/0 ProLogic; or (iii) or MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2 (Musicam).
I have an odd workflow:
the original recording is done on dvd...
we then take dvdxdv to extract the file using the fcp setting...
we bring that in to fcp, do what we need to and export as a quicktime (not self contained)
we bring that in to compressor and apply the mpeg 2 preset, add the audio in the extras tab and then tell it to run...
it crashes every time...I get a 3xcrash failure notice...sometimes right away and sometimes later in the process...
we have tried many other combinations...
is there some other software I can use....
the program we are working on is about 110 minutes long...
we have a g5 latest (not the software just announced) production suite from apple...
we have 3 gigs of ram...and tons of disk space...and the original and exported files play fine....
please help
