Importing DVD-video/audio ts files??

Dear All,

I am not sure how this works. I have a dvd with the video ts and audio ts files.

I want to import these into fcp, edit them and add subtitles.
Lastly I need to then export this file to quicktime to post it on the internet.
Is this all possible?

Thank you in advance!
Robert

You can use DVDxDV Pro to convert to QT,
edit, export etc. But I read about different workflows
in this forum..

i got a surprise the other day when i found that you can actually bring the VOB files directly into FCP.
you don't get any audio, though.

so best to convert them.
i use MPeg Streamclip for that. it's free.
you'll get better results if you don't convert to DV.
Wayne was recommending Photo JPeg at 75%.
or was that 100%?

We use Photo JPEG at various compressions for a lot of things. 100% will result in almost no compression--or what there is, is invisible.

I use hand brake to rip DVD and streamclip (it's quicker than FCP 4.5) to convert to uncompressed 8 bit. Works great and has audio.

Doesn't Handbrake convert to MPEG-4? Why would you do that if you're wanting to put it into a production environment?

All the best,

Tom

so its better to go w/ photo jpeg out of streamclip? ( which is the coolest free program EVER) I'm usually mixing w/ dv clips on my dv timeline. I've been using dv and haven't noticed much problem.

Paul

ps- i'm not sure the above actually contains a question...
