How do you export a single clip?

I'm trying to export clips into Soundtrack Pro from my timeline. When I highlite a clip and hit EXPORT, the entire timeline gets exported.

Do In-Out points, or double-click into the Viewer and export from there.

I'm trying that, but it won't let me export as a Sound file, only QT movie or conversion.

You didn't look hard enough. Export - Using QuickTime Conversion has a slew of options in the dialog box -- AIFF and Wave, for example. At any rate, there should also be a "Send to Soundtrack Pro" or "Export - For Soundtrack" option.
