edl file type not recognised in FCP...

Hi gang-

I am grabbing an edl from a PC based edit system (844X) and trying to import it into FCP. It's CMX3600.

When over on my mac, in the import edl browser window, the files are greyed out. I tried changing the extension to .edl, but it still says "type: plain text document."

My FCP crashed out when I deselected "show files of type: edl, and chose files of "all-types" instead, and then selected the file.

I tried pasting the contents of the edl into a word doc on the mac, but that too was unnacceptable. I have gotten various error messages related to "bad" file-type...

Any thoughts on this? I need those time-codes and clip names!

Thanks,

Try saving in .TXT format..

It was initially saved in .txt, when I exported from the pc 844X system...

Should I "redo" the extension, or add another .txt to the existing one?

Perplexed in NY,

This was solved with turning off the print function on the PC side, yes?

Yes! And the 2 edls looked identical, except the "printable version" was double spaced... go figure!
