I'll use this program, but right now it won't allow me to install it since FCP is open. I need to trash the prefs before I do anything. Where are the preferences?

You're supposed to quit FCP before trashing preferences or using FCP Rescue. And if you're using FCP Rescue for the first time to back up your preferences, you need to first trash them the old-fashioned way, relaunch FCP, reconfigure the preferences to what you like, then quit out and run FCP Rescue's backup.

i don't think it mentions FCP Attic, which is similar to FCP Rescue

it's worth having a look at.
it has a bit more functionality than FCP Rescue, last time i looked.
