Log & capture crashes

Hi guys,

I got a strange problem. when my mini dv camera is hooked up via firewire to do some capturing i open the log and capture window and FCP 5.1.4 crashes. I relaunch fcp and it says there is no device and ask me to continue or check again. i know the firewire ports are working cause imovie recognizes the camera and i can import that way. so why is fcp crashing when i try to log and capture? this is very annoying. any ideas out there??

Has it always been this way or did it just start happening. If it just started happening what did you do before it started happening? Upgrade to 5.1.4? Have you tried trashing your preferences?

it started with the upgrade to 5.1.4. i've trashed the prefernce. i've done a clean install of the OS 10.4.9 and a clean install of FCP 5.1 and still the same problem. im totally stumped on this
