Using XML for data management

Using XML for data management

One issue I have with FCP is that the sequence is internal to the project which in turn is internal to FCP.

Translation, I can't search the finder for assets placed in a sequence within a FCP project.

But since FCP can export an XML file, does anyone know of any applications or utilities available that can parse the XML file and thereby make the contents of a sequence search able?

Why would someone want to do that you might ask.

After using Media Manager to backup a project it turns out we missed one file [actually an element of a file that was round tripped to Motion], as Murphy would have it we needed to make a change that ended up costing $$$.

So I'm looking for a way to "see" all of the elements that were used in a particular sequence to make sure that everything gets backed up correctly. I'm not sure this would work but I'm willing to bet I'm not the first person who doesn't fully trust media manager and that someone has developed a cool utility to solve this problem.
