trouble outputting to my sony dsr-40

Please help. For some reason I have lost my output to my DV deck.
I am coming out of FCP with a G5 via fire wire and for some reason I have no
monitoring anymore. I have not changed any settings. On friday I did try to export
from FCP to a DVD but it was going to take to long so I stopped the process. I tried a different deck and different cable. Any ideas?
