creeping mask

I have a mask shape, feathered, moving slowly in FCP - it creeps, sort of stutters. This can happen with titling in FCP also. Any work around? Or do I have to build these kind of things in AE?

whats your hardware setup?

Quad. 3 gig memory.

is it supposed to be static or drifting?
does it play smoothly if your viewer size is smaller or the same at any %

only judge by looking at the rendered results on an external monitor.

if you still get shimmer, open your sequence settings (Apple zero)
go to video processing,
set "Motion Filtering Quality" to High

longer renders,
better results.
