Green Screen for chroma keying +heat haze filter

I am chroma keying a scene of a boy levitating off the beach. I use Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6), and for chroma keying I'm using the Colour Smoother filter and Chroma Key Filter.

We are planning on shooting the actor against a green screen outdoors to match the light of the beach as much as possible.

The DOP has asked me what shade of green I would like to use. Can anyone give me advice on the best shade of green screen for chroma keying?

Also, is there an FCP filter that looks like heat haze/mirage?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Maggie

Really bright green is best. You can buy paint that is specifically designed for the job, but any flouro lime colour will do just as well. The point is to make is as far as possible from any colour you would find on your subject, so you can key it out easily without keying out part of the kid.

Motion would probably have some kind of haze generator, although I haven't had the need myself, so I'm not positive about that.

There is a 'heat' filter in the brand new version of FxFactory2

15 day free trial so you can see if it does the effect you need

Thanks Jude and Peter, both your responses have really helped me.
