window burn filter

I have FCP 5 and am editing a 30 min. program. I want to use the Window Burn Filter but am hesitant. I have one segment that is a multi-clip segment. I want to be able to take the window burn off.
How do I do this all of this?

Thanks / Don B.

it'd be easy to remove the burn-in from any of the techniques discussed.

Yes and no. If you need a burn-in on individual clips (ie. you need clip timecode), and if you have other filters on those clips, then removing the timecode burn is a huge p.i.t.a. because if you use Remove Attributes, all filters will be deleted, not just that Timecode Reader. Best to duplicate the Sequence, perform the burn, and then ditch the duplicated Sequence once the output is done. However, if only timeline timecode is needed, then the "blank text" method is very easy and non-intrusive.
