Glitch with making a stereo pair?

I'm working with imported split tracks, and a lot of the music in my timeline are individually imported clips of stereo left and stereo right music.

When I make a stereo pair from two clips on my timeline, sometimes the sliders in my audio mix tool will lower the level on them together, and sometimes they won't. The clip name is underlined in the timeline, but the audio mixer won't treat them together. What am I missing?

FCS 2/OS X 10.4.11

Thanks -

Jeff

The clip is only dual mono if it has the underline, but no small green triangles on the clip to indicate it is stereo. There are two different commands for linking. Apple L to link, and option L to make stereo.

It's not really truly stereo, but it will allow you to adjust both levels at once.

Thanks for the clarification, Jude. I was just using apple-L to link, wasn't aware of the option-L variant. That's the part that I was missing! I appreciate it.
