best path - betaSP footage into an HD project?

okay. i have a not too old beta SP tape that i need to get into a DVCPROHD 720p project.
i have a UVW1800 deck and a canopus advc110 - so svideo in via fw400 MAY be my least common denominator...

just wondering about various approaches..?

Sounds like component outs to SD, then a batch upconvert to DVCPROHD.

Never used a canopus before- I'm looking at the specs now... Ouch! No component? The audio is sent in unbalanced? The Svideo/fw400 actually sounds like the what you'd be doing with this thing... No other capture cards?

Capture the BetaSP as DV/NTSC. Then use Instant HD to upconvert, or what I do is use Compressor and the advanced conversion settings, making all the FRAME options the best they can be. Takes a long time, but works.
