Compressor quits unexpectedly

Compressor quits unexpectedly
February 03, 2008 11:16PM
I cannot get Compressor to launch from within Final Cut Pro. I was told I should try downloading the latest QT 7.3 upgrade. I did. I downloaded and installed QuickTime 7.3.1 and then, after trashing FCP Preferences, reopened FCP today. I tried to launch Compressor and got the same message as before: "The application Compressor quit unexpectedly. Mac OX X and other applications are not affected."

Any other ideas what might be causing this?

thanks,
terry

I did as suggested and trashed Compressor preferences. I relaunched FCP and tried to export a sequence using Compressor, and again got the prompt that Compressor "unexpectedly quit". Then I got the spinning disk in FCP and had to do a Force Quit.

I would, of course, immediately do a Custum reInstall Compressor from my software set, except for the fact that it is from a set that represents FCP 5.0 and not the updated version I am now running, which is 5.1.4. What's the general wisdom on this then?

A thousand thanks in advance for any advice.

Terry
