quicktime logging software?

Is there a way to watch a quicktime movie in QT, set in and out points, name subclips, and have them exported to self contained movies with reel info, logging notes, and clip name included and readable by FCP?...

We have some huge chunks of video in large quicktimes files that need to be broken down, but the reel info needs to be intact. and the name and the logging note, is there a piece of software that does this?
I know it can kind of be done with an xml or edl but is there a program that lets you do this
with a quicktime whilst scrubbing through?
Or is there a way to do it in FCP?
Ive been told sublips are buggy and have issues when used with color?
is that true? Are sub clips still buggy and especially when used with media manager?
because that could solve my problem right there. allthough a quicktime logging app would be great too.

thanks.

seems FCP would be the tool for the job
just create a sequence of your chosen clips and then use the Media Manager to consolidate the sequence using Media : Copy / Uncheck the include master clips outside selection / Delete unused media
check the consolidated media, and if all is OK, delete /archive the original quicktime
