How big are the source photos? Are they good quality?
How close do you wish to enlarge them?
What video format are you importing these into?
305 dpi will give you just about enough pixel data to fill a DV NTSC frame if the source is 2.25 inches wide. But when you start enlarging it, it will begin to soften and look "yammy."
If you're scanning an 8 X 10, same scanrate, same format, you can comfortably zoom in 3X magnification without adverse effects.
Depends on your real world sources and your creative intent.
