Check out this YouTube video encoded especially to maximise the quality. Not too bad, even fullscreen it's way better than the normal stuff.

According to the producer, the settings used were

encoded from AVI file
ffmpeg 2-pass
avisynth sharpness (4)
video: 900k
audio: 96k, 44100khz, stereo

I'm sure that's what studio execs are most afraid of...

The quality was very good.

Very nice, if you're interested in getting the most out of Youtube, then this is worth a look:

http://forum.videohelp.com/topic336882.html

This is what's been done to this clip, you'll notice Youtube thinks its 11 minutes, whereas it actually runs at about 3 minutes. Essentially Youtube restrictions are less than 10 minutes with a data rate of less than 350kbs. However by changing the Hex of your .flv you can upload any resolution, length or data rate, so long as the file size is ~<27mb. There are obvious issues in doing this but it can be used to good effect.

This one was encoded at 960x720, 1700k

Check it out at full screen, obviously doesn't stream that well but if Youtube is your only broadcast medium then this method makes those bytes really count.

That one skips a bit. i have 8.0 net speed. Mid level dsl is like 5.0. I think this may have a hard time being viewed by people with 56k or even 3.0 speeds.

There are a lot more of them than folks with my speed. I think to get a front to back smooth play thru in this quality level may require the patience to wait for the full load.

I am not sure what they are doing with the next Flash upgrade 10.0 but i think they need to do more for quality fix than any thing. Flash quality web-wide is random at best. I wish a 312 file could look as good as a 512 file.

Can anyone tell me what apps were used to achieve this? I use FCP 5.1 Compressor, and the rest.
Any advice would help.

Thanks,

Apparently YouTube has blocked this method now, so we've got to wait for another hack .
