HDV/SD DVD?

Greetings all!

I have been given the task of re-editing and re-authoring a SD DVD to include HDV footage shot on the Canon xl2.

Any ideas on the shortest road to my happiest near future?

I would really appreciate any guidance! smiling smiley !!!

I'm still running FCP 5.1 with DVD studio pro 4.1

THANKS!

John

First things first:

The XL-2 does NOT shoot HDV. It is a standard def (DV) camera.

Dear Tim,

You are right.

That was dumb.

Footage was captured on an XL 1 H in HDV...anyhow, think it would be easiest to capture the needed HDV footage then down-res to SD for an SD workflow?

Really appreciate any suggestions.

Best,
John

I would take XL-H1 questions to these guys:

They've been through all of that.

Be careful what you post... the XL-H1 is a totally different animal (Uncompressed HD-SDI output).

1. Yeah...you need to upgrade to FCS2 (FCP 6.0.2)
2. Find someone with a Kona / Decklink card & capture the HDV stuff Pro Res.

When life gives you dilemmas...make dilemmanade.

be careful what YOU post joe. the xlh1 is NOT uncompressed HD-SDI unless you capture live to an SDI capture equipped computer.

if you shoot to tape with it - its HDV

Looking fwd to upgrading 2 fc6...think for now I'm simply going to down-res the hdv to sd and rock on down the road.

Thanks all!

best,
John
