I am working with editing mini-dv footage in FCP 6.0.2 using a Sony NTSC broadcast monitor and have just upgraded to QT 7.4.1. I noticed that in the preferences setting for QT there is an unchecked box saying..."when enabled, video is not displayed using ColorSync. Source colors are read with 2.2 gamma and are displayed in a color space with 1.8 gamma."
In other words, if I enable this box, will my pictures on the "computer" monitor (the canvas and viewer windows)...will the picture be lighter than I am used to in previous versions of QT? Does it effect the gamma density when I export from Compressor to an MPEG-2 file?
I'm just trying to get a handle as to whether the "norm" for editing should be to enable (check the box)...or to keep disabled?
Any thoughts/comments?
Thanks
John
