Macmini or imac

Sorry to ask about this, but you have all the experience.

1. Macmini or imacs, I saw some of these come with decent speed, ram, hd, video cards, etc. what would be the cons for video production? No money for macpro.
I do small video productions, weddings, some small documentaries for churches.
Minidv now(GL2), thinking of HD soon.
I use a G4 with fcp3 but want to leave that one only for audio-music production.

2. That new Sonyhvrhd1000 is only about $1500, do you think it would be a good hd?
Does 1 chip make much difference?

The biggest baddest iMac you can afford. Don't get the bottom level one. It's integrated video card won't handle Motion. My little iMac can handle Motion, but barely. FCP runs great though.

FCP5.x and down runs fine on a mini but like Kevin says it won't run Motion at all (as I found out).

Secondly, it won't even load something like FxFactory.

I love my mini, but it is limited. This is a PPC version but I don't think the newer ones are any better.

if you're going to invest in a camera I would suggest avoiding hdv like the plague. it's color space and interlacing and gop to name 3 reasons.
if you can find a camera with 3 chips this would be better.

btw, you only need to post in one forum since a lot of us read more than just this forum
