'Popups' in the movie "Enchanted"

Hi!
I've seen the movie 'Enchanted' and wondered if anyone knows how those cool 'popups' are working? I mean the ones at the beginning and end of the movie where people and surroundings are being 'collapsed' in the fairy tale book.
I saw a short movie about the company who did it and it seems to be an amazing amount of work in it. Still, on imdb it said it was done in Shake. So I wonder if one should be able to do this working just with FCP 2 and Shake.
What do you think?

You need high end stuff to do this...like Shake and Maya3D. FCP is a non-linear editor...used for telling a story. It isn't a visual effects tool. That was a visual effect.

You'll need serious visual effects cajones (sp?) to do something like that. But, always worth playing around to see what you can do. Yeah, that was amazing...kinda freaky.

yeah well, I have Shake that's why I'm wondering how you would be doing that...but probably not without some real tough pre-work in Maya.
