Hi All,

Having a problem with slomo/speed change with FCP 6.03.

Any speed is jerky even 50percent like the timing is wrong.

Codec: ProRes SD PAL (HQ) 25fps timeline

Any ideas?

Jonathan

Hey Jonathan

What's the original material, is it progressive or interlaced?

Might it be a field reversal issue? Or frame-blending turned off?

Sometime speed changes work better with Frame Blending off but then you'll get juddery images.

Another tip

If its a -100% reverse speed change you might like to turn off frame-blending as it softens slightly and then add a shift fields filter to compensate and you will get smooth reverse video that looks the same quality as it does forwards.

Check it for field tearing. If your source footage has a different field order/codec than the sequence you are working in, you need to convert your footage into that codec before applying the speed change.
