Trouble multi-clipping HDV taped footage with SXS card footage

I'm trying to make a multiclip sequence with footage shot on three different cameras. One of the sequences was shot on a Canon HV30 (I think that's the model number) at 1080 60i and the other two sequences were shot on Sony PMW-EX1's and are XDCAM HQ (35mbps) sequences that are 1080 24p. FCP will not allow multiclips to be made because it's saying there's a format error. Any suggestions on the best way to convert the HDV taped footage and to what format?? THANKS!

I do this kind of stuff and just use a HDV sequence if the HDV camera is using prime lenses and looks better than DV CAM. I also do it old school - manual rather than multiclip function because I find it easier although you have to render all the time but it works.

Apple will likely say ProRes here. Both formats have mpeg compression, and you get it into an vbr 8/10 bit I-frame codec that you can grade with. I don't work much with NTSC, but you may have to convert the frame rates on transcode to ProRes.
