FCP update?????

How can i get FCP to be on my software update list?
When I do a software update, I always have to go to the apple site and download from there.

Latest updates required you have QT 7.5 installed. That or go into your software update control panel and make sure the box is checked to check updates daily, weekly or monthly.

also FCP has to be in the Applications folder, and named "Final Cut Pro".
if you have appended a version number, Software update wont see it.

I went to my applications folder and Final Cut Pro is in there they way you described it....
any other idea?

Did you read what I said above? If no FCP software updates are appearing then you either don't have Quicktime 7.5 installed or have your preferences set wrong, that or are not connected to the internet

Michael,
I do have the latest version of Quicktime 7.5
in my preferences, there is no option to select Final Cut Pro to be updated.
When I have an software update, FCP is never on the list to get updated.
I need to find out how to get it on the list.

Do you ever get any warning of any software updates? If so, look in the software update control panel and make sure that little box is checked. If it is, then something is wrong. There is no list to get onto.

I have it set to manual.I update when i want. It is only FCP that does get updated whether I set it to auto or manual.
I have to do the apple download procedure

It seems you also have to have 10.5.3 or 10.5.4 to see the update in Software UPdate. That's what happened to me.

I don't think so,,,
because on my older (separate) mac, I am running tiger and fcp 5. it does do the update with FCP on it.

It is only my new mac ( mac book pro) with tiger, that it doesn't happen.
I am wondering if there is some setting i have wrong....

Are your copies of FCP individually licensed, or the same license on both machines? (You just run them one at a time)...

Could affect Software Update.

I suppose no one would want to answer this in public... smiling smiley

I could be wrong, but isn't the FCP update INSIDE of a ProApps updater? It doesn't say "Final Cut Pro" but it is.

Did ajmax confirm if he was getting the ProApps updater but not realizing it contained FCP updater within it? I dont see any reference in this thread to the actual name of the installer package:

Pro Applications Update 2008-02

It will never say "Final Cut" on it and that may be confusing for some.
