Convert aiff. file to mpeg-3

How do you convert an aiff. file to mpeg-3? I was told to import the aiff. file into iTunes, right-click on the file and use the "Convert to mpeg-3", but there is no such conversion that I can find. Any hlep would be appreciated.

Did you mean: Convert to MP3? Once you drag the file into the iTunes window, to convert it select menu Advanced > Convert Selection to MP3. If that option doesn't show in that menu, open iTunes Preferences > Advanced > Importing >Importing Using > MP3 Encoder.

And by the way, Alberto is being accurate -- MP3 stands for "MPEG-1 Layer 3", not "MPEG-3":
