Dual 2.5GHz G5 | 2.5Gb RAM | OSX 10.4.11 | FCP 6.0.2

Hi Guys,
I am needing to find some answers regarding editing DVCPRO HD 50p (PAL obviously).
My client specifically wants to shoot 50p to get smoother motion, but still have the depth, as opposed to 25p, which is not as smooth.. Can I edit it in FCP 6.0.2? I realise my box is a bit small to handle HD, but I intend doing an 'offline', then go back and re-render in full res later.. Any thoughts on workflow? This will eventually landing up going to broadcast..

Thanks in advance,

Marcus T

Hi Marcus

You can cut DVCproHD of all flavours just fine on your system - although I would get at least a 2GB RAM upgrade (giving a 4.5GB total) and a fast HDD preferably a FW800 and if possible a 2 or 3 Drive RAID in RAID 0.

I have cut DVCproHD for years on my Dual 2Ghz G5...

Cut in Native Full res DVCproHD 720p50 - the frame size for this is 960x720 and is displayed as 1280x720 but use Easy Setup to avoid getting it wrong.
