FCP: 6.0.1 Acad.
iMac g5: 1.9 ghz, 1.5 gb SDRAM

I'm cutting a film that was supposedly shot in 24PN to a P2 card and then log and transferred to Quicktimes. All I have are the quicktimes, no mxf files.

The QT's are mostly (we'll get to this later) DVCPRO HD 720p60 at 23.98. Now, if these clips were really shot in 24PN, why do they exist in an "over 60" timebase? Did they log & transfer the files incorrectly?

Also, I've researched users on this forum talking about 720p24n clips and sequences but the timeline compressor limits me to 720p50 or 720p60. Can I create a 720p24 timeline & how?

And now the other issue: a few scenes were shot at DVCPRO HD 720p60 59.94. Will I have big problems if I edit everything on a DVCPRO HD 720p60 23.98fps timeline?

Thanks in advance,

That is the codec type. DVCPRO HD originated on tape, and that is a 720p60 at 59.94 format. If you set the camera to 24p, the redundant frames are removed. But the HVX shoots 24fps straight, without pulldown. But the codec is still 720p60.

Go into your Easy Setups, choose DVCPRO HD 720p24, create a new sequence. Boom...there you go.

Nah. FCP will remove the pulldown properly and make the clips into 23.98. The timeline compressor has nothing to do with frame rate in this case.

while we are at it I will ask?I have not work with hvx footage yet, I will be receiving a drive with footage shot 24pn at different frame rates to accomplish nice slow motion.

I am running FCP 6 on a 2.33 macbook pro 3gb ram

which easy set up should I use, also when how should I deal with the diferent frame rates to achieved the slomos!!

thanks
