USing FC 6.0.2 I am creating subtitles and wish to use shading as the titles sometimes fall behind similar colours and are unreadable..don't see any shading options in the controls window of the viewer..thanks, Michael

You might want to look at CHV's text collection which offers many options

Or use the Boris titler that comes with FCP.

you mean like a grey / translucent box?

have a look at Spherico's "Text Up Pro"

or Digital Heaven's "Subtitle"

both also offer outline or drop-shadow which could also help.

both offer bottom justify:
no need for seperate one-line and two-line versions of your subtitle generator!

& Text Up Pro has auto text wrapping,
which really is a time saver.

You can turn on drop shadow for text or any picture in the 'motion' tab in the viewer.

Also, Boris (free with most FCP versions) which is in the effects generators has a lot of options for drop shadows and depth shadows.

The effects generators menu is a second tab in your browser, or under the small capital 'A' at the bottom right of the viewer when a video clip is loaded.
