can't apply filter globallyPosted by davko
While able to apply a "de-interlace filter" to the upper (default) field of an entire video track, is there a way to change the default to the lower field, so I don't have to go clip by clip? Changing this setting in FILTERS for one clip does not change it for all, even when I select the entire track.
if its the ONLY filter on your clips,
then you can select all, right click on any clip, remove attributes > filters, then apply a modified de-interlace filter to all clips at once: open the de-interlace filter, change it, drag to all selected clips in timeline. but if you have bits & pieces of filters across your clips, then it's one-by-one, i'm afraid. for a global effect like de-interlace, i'd think about nesting your sequence, and applying the filter to that nest. nick
What FCP needs is what 3d Studio Max has with its parametric modifiers; which in this
case would be equivalent to a filter. Let's say you create a cube (let's say for analogy sake that a cube=a clip in FCP) and then you apply a modifier (say bend) and then you create another cube. You can copy the modifier from CubeA to CubeB as either a copy or an instance. If it is an instance, then if you change the modifier on Cube A you also change the modifier on CubeB. Therefore, FCP needs to have a choice of both copied (non-unique filters that apply to only one clip) and instanced filters; so that if you change the filter on a clip you change any other instance of this filter. Hope this makes sense... Take a look at XML, even without a knowledge about XML you can easily figure out in a text editor what the settings are for "upper" and "lower". Then just do a simple find/replace.
