when it comes to hard-drives which is better for longevity and performance?

3.5 inch disk or 2.5inch disk

i will be using it as an internal drive.

You don't have a choice. If you're using a laptop, you can only use a 2.5" internal drive. If you're using a desktop system, you can only use 3.5" internal drives.

They last even longer if you duct tape them into the computer...down FIRM. So they don't wiggle around so much.

And make sure before you install one to lick the connector real good. The spit makes the data go faster. I get an extra 80 MB/s out of my RAID by unplugging, licking and replacing all the drives every morning before I go into session.

I prefer the coin technique that applies to the record player to prevent skipping.

Oh, that reminds me: You'll get fewer errors on your hard drives if you trace around the edges with a green magic marker. It TOTALLY works.

3.5 drives are faster, and cheaper. SATA is the standard now, stay away from ATA or PATA.
