FCP Sync Issues on Export

FCP Sync Issues on Export
October 07, 2008 10:10AM
I have discovered a problem where anything I export out of FCP, whether its a self contained movie file or any export through compressor is about 5 frames out of sync.
If I slide the sound back 5 frames then export its fine but I shouldn't have to do that everytime should I.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

First thing to check as always:

Note that the monitoring applies to both your editing timeline and the final movie file.

Yeah, it might be a monitoring issue but sometimes it can also happen if your codec is too "thick" for QT to handle (like playing MPG-files or using non-standard size). I've seen this happen without any external monitors/soundcards etc.

Latest discovery is when I select View/External Video/Off, then its all back in sync.
When I select View/External Video/All Frames, ie through my decklink card, thats when it goes 5 frames out of sync.
I can't see how to adjust anything in the Decklink settings
Any ideas

Thanks

In System Settings, there's a box to select "playback offset". This delays the playback in the viewer to compensate for the lag as the video and audio is sent out through the capture card.
