OT: Systems For Streaming to Cable Broadcast

THE SYSTEM

I am putting together a system for a city government to archive and and stream their video along with some older content.

They are also wanting to stream to cable access in 2010. Which i am not sure is better than sending in tape (fcp to tape). Though tapes are normally 1hr i dont really mind sending 6 to cover the 16hr block that will be our broadcast day.

In the first year we just need to archive and stream as i currently do on my website. There will be no live streaming for the first 10 months but after that we will be setting up an on demand channel thru our local cable station.

The question i have about the system is, is it over kill?

Is it practical in broadcast delivery?

what would be a way of doing this without that system?


BTW i have a very nice budget for this but i need to prove that the start up is not so bad to move thru the zeros and decimals.
