Reconnected Media Doesn't stay reconnected

How can I make reconnected media stay reconnected? Every time I open up FCP I have to reconnect the same media one file at a time before FCP will open properly.

The files in question were on a DVD and I removed the DVD once, while working on a separate project with the project in question actually closed as far as I was concerned. On returning to that project I reinserted the disc and reconnected the media.

However, despite the disc being in FCP requires me to reconnect that media each time even when opening up a different project.

Any ideas?

Copy the Media off the DVD onto your scratch disk - the first place FCP looks for media is there and not a DVD.
