I need to know how to watermark bits of streaming footage made using FCP. Is this a facility of FCP? If you know of a tutorial, I would appreciate knowing where to get that.

Watermarking could be done with a title that is opacity keyframed to almost nothing. Open up the text drop down and try different titling and try to position it where you need it to be. Once you select a color of the text, then set to opacity to 15-20% or whatever looks good as a watermark.

this article covers making a watermark in Photoshop:

god thing about doing it in there is that you;re not using FCP to create drop shadow etc., which will save you render time.

Even easier if you are doing web video or DVD. Let Compressor do it for you on the encode.
