The Pioneer DVR-106D inside the G5 deskside (Panther) is starting to produce ratty burns.

What's good? I see a new Pioneer DVR-110 available.

The last few times I changed the drive, it was a trouble-free restart. I think this machine started with a 103 or 104 back in the paleolithic era. Many successful burns.

My Quicksilver G4 started with one of those "StuporDrives." I purchased an Apple-approved Pioneer 109 from NewEgg a few years ago for about $70.00. Went in effortlessly, took 1/3 less room too. It's still humming. I wouldn't expect many problems and I would look at that 110.

Further digging turns up a firmware and driver change we have to make for the 110 to be successful. Not Fuzzy-Warm, but something I guess we're going to have to deal with.

Thank yew.
