Canon 5D MkII h.264 HD video for FCP: best Sequence Preset?Posted by hermosawave
I'm the web host for lafcpug, but I'm also a photographer. And my new Christmas toy of a Canon 5D MkII digital SLR has already turned into a video gig...
I've imported some of my footage into FCP but I immediately see that all of it needs rendering on the timeline. I'm using the HDV 1080i60 sequence preset, but I'm wondering if there is a more efficient preset to use. According to the manual the 5DII is 1920x1080 ("Full HD" whatever that is ;-) Thanks! There is a tutorial over on the provideo coalition web site. I just don't know where it is.
Do a search when you get there. [provideocoalition.com] Michael Horton -------------------

I don't like that method. It's better to transcode the footage to ProRes and work with ProRes. Less lossy method of compression.

Thanks everyone!
I don't have the latest FCP ( one previous) so I couldn't use ProRes. I guess i'll need to upgrade. I converted to HDV 60i to match the footage from the Canon HV-30 I was intercutting with, and it worked fine. The 5DII seems to be 1080P and looked much better than the HDV, when I was able to get things in focus :-) // Hermosawave Internet // Internet Design and Hosting for Creative Business
