Transcoding Confusion with HDV

I am not sure if this is particular post would be appropriate for this particular forum

I am shooting with a Gy-hd200 and DR-hd100 (files are 720p60 .mov format)...My question is regarding the Quicktime files that are recorded within the DR-hd100....

Are they still HDV files in their original compressed form? (reason I ask is because it takes forever when trying to compress them into a format DVD SP can recognize)

Would I benefit in Quality or make it less processor intensive during editing/compression if I recorded them in a .MOV Format and later convert them to via Apple Pro Res HQ via MPEG Streamclip or even Clip Wrap? (Hard drive space is not a problem for me)

Thanks

No actual seat time but you should be able to convert those HDV files directly to ProRes422 HD during log and transfer, to retain HD quality. This can be safely archived and the Firestore wiped.

For a DVD it will take time to downconvert to SD 16 X 9. Faster the processor(s) the better.

Do a test workflow and get other minds on it.
