Quality loss going from AIC to ProRes 422?

Hi all -

I have a directory problem with some AVCHD footage and my FCP is not recognizing the files.

There is a program called Voltaic that will convert raw .MTS files without the directory. It only converts to AIC Quicktimes, however. Would there be loss in quality bringing those files into ProRes 422?

Someone mentioned Toast 10 might also be able to convert raw MTS files - to ProRes 422. Does this work? Has anybody done it?

Thanks!

Sure some- but you can't really get away from that. What camera? Many AVCHD cameras are recognized in FCP 6 now.

I shot on the Panasonic HMC 150 and have been transcoding to ProRes 422 with no problem... except for this one card. I'd of course rather find a way to transcode the .MTS files directly to ProRes 422 without going through an intermediate codec (literally).
