Error: "End of tape reached, last clip was not captured."

I am trying to import a clip that I have successfully captured in the past.

The Tape:
Vis.TC, Keycode, and Audio TC.

Batch Capture settings:
Use logged clip settings, no handles, dv ntsc 48khz, 29.97, 24bit, 720x480 etc.

The Deck:

Sony DVCAM DSR-11 deck, the same one I used for importing last time.

The Device Control Presets:

Apple Firewire Basic, Time source: DV Time, 29.97, Non-Drop Frame.

I imported the telecine log and selected the clip I wanted to capture. I hit batch capture. Click ok to the batch capture settings. The deck winds to the spot on the tape, capture starts, after 10-12 seconds or so I get this message...

Error: "End of tape reached, last clip was not captured."

Its clearly not the end of the tape...why is it doing this? How do I fix it? Any help is greatly appreciate.

Rick

What version of FCP? What version of the OS? What version of QuickTime?

FireWire Basic is not correct for use with a Sony device. The material show be NDF. Have you confirmed that it is by stepping through it?

FCP Version: 6.0.5
OSX Version: 10.5.6
Quicktime Version: 7.6

Tape is confirmed to be NDF as well.

Do you know the correct device control settings for this sony device?

Regular FireWire, not Basic, as Tom says. The entire Sony FW command set is available under that protocol.

The tape may require post roll and you don;t allow enough. When I get this message, I back up a second or so to allow post-roll. It usually captures fine.
