ex3 Codec Issue's

I hope i posted this in the correct area - hoping someone can help me out


I just purchased and EX3- I went out and shot some footage yesterday - upon closer inspection I noticed compression artifacts all over the footage - example I went out and shot some clouds and fog - On the cloud footage I see blue color gradiation all over the place in the sky.

It looks like a video card set to the wrong setting IE 256 colors -

look in the middle of the photo.

The same with the fog - The whites were gradiated real bad. Is this normal? I reset the cam back to factory settings and the same happens

I have seen the same effect on discovery channel docs - it bothers me every time

It is coming off the cam - looks the same in the view finder. My one chip shots better then this. Any sugguestions?


PS - Why do you guys meet? I am inclined to stop by for a meeting when in town.

It's hard to judge any of this on a compressed .png.
I don't have any issue with my EX1 (same codec and processing).

You don't mention at all what you're monitoring with.
Certainly the viewfinder is NOT a QC monitor.
