2 Macs, HDV editing on ethernet?

I currently have a Mac Pro dual core and want to purchase a new Mac Pro 8 core - both running FCP 6 and editing multiple streams of HDV video with media files located on the same external drives. How can I "network" both of them to read and write to my Drobo (virtual Raid system with 4 x 1.5TB drives connected to my current computer via firewire 800) and be able to edit HDV with both of them at the same time - though different files of course? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to make a purchase and discover it will not work for my needs - or be too slow to do real-time editing!
