Can I convert ".MTS" / "Unix Executable" files?

Can I convert ".MTS" / "Unix Executable" files?
May 22, 2009 07:38AM
I just got a hard drive with some clips shot on a Sony consumer HD camcorder.

The files are have a ".MTS" extension.

I asked him how he uses the files/clips and he said he transfers them to imovie from the actual camcorder.

I tried to open these up in iMovie, Quicktime and FCP with no luck.

Suggestions?

Thanks

If you tried in iMovie 07

Try iMovie '08 or '09

Or Voltaic should handle them - only $34.99

Try the demo and check before you buy it.

I have iMovie 09 and I can´t figure out how to open them with it.

I did find Voltaic, might be my last and only option. Wow, what an headache.

Yes, the whole six-million-different-file-based-formats thing has really gotten out of hand. A friend of mine works for a post house that has started just dubbing everything off to SR, regardless of the original format, and digitizing it into their Avids for editing.

Have a try with ClipWrap [www.clipwrap.com]
Or, if you have Toast then that could be another option ... a lot of folks report good success with that, supposed to be very much faster than Voltaic
